Supplements for Smokers
Smoking is one of the worst habits you can undertake, and no amount of vitamin or mineral supplementation can counteract the damage cigarettes inflict on the body.
Smoking has been linked to heart disease, thrombosis, high blood pressure, stroke, poor circulation, aortic aneurisms, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, peptic ulcers, cancers such as stomach, lung, bladder, lip and throat, impotence and halitosis. Your risk of these ailments will only decrease if you quit smoking cigarettes.
If, however, you choose to smoke despite knowing the risks, taking antioxidants to combat some of the effects of smoking is advisable. Smokers tend to deplete the body of vitamin C, folic acid, thiamin and vitamin B6, so taking supplements may be recommended by your doctor.
