Flaxseed oil is a rich source of essential fatty acids, especially alpha-linolenic acid more commonly known as omega-3. It also contains omega-6 fatty acids and a substance called lignans, which helps fight bacteria, viruses and fungi.
Therapeutic benefits include protecting against heart disease, gallstones, cataracts, gallstones and some cancers. It also promotes healthy skin, nails and hair, plus reduces inflammation associated with lupus and gout. It helps in the treatment of certain nerve disorders, and is often used for the relief of constipation and diverticulitis.
Flaxseed oil contains phytoestrogens that can help with things like menstrual complaints, infertility, impotence and endometriosis. One teaspoon to one tablespoon of liquid flaxseed oil a day - use it to make salad dressing - should be sufficient.
