St. John's Wort and Sleep

Does St. John's wort help you sleep or cause sleeplessness?

It varies from person to person and dosage to dosage. St. John's wort has been known to calm nerves, ease anxiety and reduce stress, all of which can help promote a good night's sleep. However, in large doses, the herb has also been reported to contribute to insomnia. The best advice is to take St. John's wort in the dose recommended by your health care practitioner, evaluate how it affects your system, and be prepared to take occasional breaks from the herb should you have trouble sleeping.
