Vitamin Overdoses

Can I overdose on vitamin A?

All vitamins can be toxic if taken in higher than recommended doses. However, only retinol, the animal source of vitamin A, and not carotene, the plant-based source of vitamin A, can be harmful at certain intakes.

Please refer to information on toxicity symptoms on our vitamin A page for specifics on this particular vitamin.
